CITY OF GONZALES CELEBRATES “MEASURE X” ALTA STREET REOPENING WITH RIBBON-CUTTING CELEBRATION

Salinas, CA (April 26, 2018) — The Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) announced that the City of Gonzales will celebrate a ribbon cutting ceremony for their Measure X “Alta Street Pavement Rehabilitation Project” at 11:00, tomorrow, Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The celebration will take place under the arch at Fourth and Alta Street, Gonzales.

This is the second major Measure X project completed in South Monterey County. The $5.2 million Alta Street Pavement Rehabilitation Project is the largest capital improvement project in the City of Gonzales in 25 years. With an advancement of Measure X funds from the Transportation Agency, the City of Gonzales could begin construction on November 30, 2017.  Without Measure X the project would have been delayed by several years. Completion will be celebrated tomorrow with the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Speakers at the ceremony include:

  2. Mayor Maria Orozco, City of Gonzales
  3. Rene Mendez, City Manager, City of Gonzales
  4. Patrick Dobbins, Engineer, City of Gonzales
  5. Debbie Hale, Executive Director, TAMC

Measure X was the 3/8 of a cent sales tax approved by voters in November 2016. 60% of the funds are dedicated to local streets and roads projects.  40% is dedicated to regional projects. For more information about Measure X, click onto the TAMC website at:
