Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The Transportation Agency is responsible for improving safety and access for bicyclists and pedestrians. These forms of transportation are important to the economic and general health of Monterey County. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee reviews each project in the Transportation Improvement Plan to ensure that the projects incorporate bicycle and pedestrian features. |

Highway 68- Salinas River Bridge | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The Salinas River Bridge is an obstacle to bicyclists and pedestrian traveling on Highway 68 between Monterey and Salinas. This potential project in the Transportation Investement Plan includes construction of a multi- use path that: | |||||||||||||||||||||

Parallels Highway 68 between Reservation Road and Spreckels Boulevard, within existing state and county right -of-way | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail | ![]() |

| The Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail will be a bicycle and pedestrian pathway stretching from Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz to Lovers Point in Pacific Grove. The Transportation Agency for Monterey County is preparing a master plan to determine the location for key trail segments. The trail includes: | |||||||||||||||||||||

A continuous and safe multi- use path that spans the entire coast of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary | ||||||||||||||||||||

Paths to provide both bicyclists and pedestrians with safe passage along the coast | ||||||||||||||||||||

Near term construction of new pathways along Highway 1 in Moss Landing and Sand City | ||||||||||||||||||||
