What is TAMC's Bicycle Protection Program?
Transportation Agency's Bicycle Protection Program provided funding for the purchase of bicycle racks and lockers, pursuant to an AB2766 Grant from the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District (MBUAPCD). The Bicycle Protection Program was modeled after the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission SCCRTC Bikes Secure Program. Under this bicycle protection program, lockers and racks were placed at different businesses, schools, and retail locations. New funding may become available soon.

Encouraging increased bicycle use for commuting purposes is a major goal of the Transportation Agency for Monterey County. The possibility of bicycle theft is a strong deterrent to bicycle use, and TAMC believes that provision of adequate numbers of secure bicycle parking facilities county wide is necessary to encourage bicycle use.
The Transportation Agency for Monterey County is administering the Bicycle Protection Program, funded by Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District (MBUAPCD) funds, to help private businesses, local jurisdictions, school districts, and other public agencies in Monterey County acquire bicycle parking racks, and lockers. The program provides bicycle-parking facilities to businesses and agencies that agree to install them securely in a convenient location for use by patrons and/or employees and to monitor the usage of these facilities.
