Agriculture
Monterey County is the premier fresh vegetable producer in the nation and the top wine grape gower in California. This $3.4 billion per year industry is supported by these projects. US 101 and Hwy 156 will serve thousands of residents, local and interstate commercial truckers.
 
Hospitality
Cannery Row
Thousands of visitors support our $2.0B per year hospitality industry. These Transportation Investment Plan projects make travel to our county more enjoyable:
 
Highway 156 widening from Castroville to Prunedale
   
Highway 1 widening between Marina and Seaside
 
California State University Monterey Bay
Education
Over 20,000 students attend universities and colleges in Monterey County making it a $900 million per year industry. These projects will improve areas to educational facilities:
 
Highway 1 widening between Maria and Sand City
Enhanced public transit service
Increase number of bike and pedestrian facilities.
   
Transportation Jobs
The Federal Highway Administration estimates that $1 billion will create 47,000 new jobs.
