Freeway Service Patrol Drivers Coming To The Rescue 11/15/06
  MONTEREY COUNTY“Quicker than AAA ,” “guardian angel,” “kind,” “God-sent,” and “great employee,” what services does the Freeway Service Patrol Program provide to receive such high compliments? A state-funded program and operated through the Transportation Agency for Monterey County, the Freeway Service Patrol drivers operate roving tow trucks on the most congested state highways to clear disabled vehicles and obstructions from the roadway in order to keep travelers moving.

State Awards Funds to Monterey County Rail Projects 9/11/06
  SANTA BARBARA – The future for rail in Monterey County is on the right track after the California Transportation Commission approved applications for a total of $34 million for two rail projects in the County. For the Caltrain Extension to Monterey County project, the state awarded $19 million in Traffic Congestion Relief Program funding for design and right-of-way acquisition and $3 million in Public Transportation Account funding for design.[view]
