TAMC CONE ZONE REPORT

ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR APR. 28 – MAY 4

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, April 28 through Saturday, May 4 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1: Tioga Avenue, Sand City: Apr. 29 – May 3
One-way traffic controls will be in place at Tioga Avenue in Sand City for bridge work from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  

Highway 1: 8th Street, Marina: Apr. 29 – May 3
One-way traffic controls will be in place at 8th Street in Marina for bridge work from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  

Highway 1: Anderson Canyon Bridge – Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Big Sur: Apr. 29 – April. 30
One-way traffic controls will be in place on Highway 1 between Anderson Canyon Bridge and Pfeiffer Burns State Park for K-rail installation work from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.  

Highway 1: Juan Higuera Creek Bridge – Molera Park Entrance/Coast Road, Big Sur:    Apr. 29 – May 3
Lane closures will occur along southbound and northbound Highway 1 between Juan Higuera Creek Bridge and Molera Park Entrance/Coast Road for paving work from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Highway 1: Rocky Creek Bridge, Big Sur: April 29 – May 3
One-way traffic controls will be in place on Highway 1 at the Rocky Creek Bridge for bridge work from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday thru Thursday. Work hours on Friday will be 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Highway 1: Del Monte Avenue, Monterey: April 30 – May 3
The Highway 1 northbound on ramp at Del Monte Avenue will be closed overnight for bridge work from April 30 to May 3 from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The Highway 1 northbound off ramp at Del Monte Avenue will be closed overnight for bridge work from April 30 to May 3 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The Highway 1 southbound off ramp at Del Monte Avenue will be closed overnight for bridge work from April 30 to May 3 from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Highway 1: Ocean Avenue, Carmel: April 30
There will be alternating lane closures in both directions of Highway 1 at Ocean Avenue for striping work with delays not to exceed 10 minutes. The work will occur on Tuesday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Highway 1: Lake Drive to 12th Street, Marina: April 30 – May 3
Nighttime lane closures will occur along southbound and northbound Highway 1 between Lake Drive and 12th Street for bridge work. The work will occur overnight from April 30 to May 3 from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 1: Iris Canyon Road, Monterey: May 1
Motorists will encounter the closure of the left lane at Iris Canyon Road in Monterey for sign work. The work will occur on Wednesday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. Delays should not exceed 5 minutes.

Highway 1: Highland Drive – San Jose Creek Bridge, Carmel: May 2 – May 3
One-way traffic controls will be in place on Highway 1 between Highland Bridge and the San Jose Creek Bridge for emergency work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday.   

Highway 1: Canyon Del Rey Boulevard (SR 218), Seaside: April 30 – May 3
Lane closures will occur overnight on Highway 1 at Canyon Del Rey Boulevard (SR 218) for bridge work on April 30 – May 3 from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  

Highway 1: Rio Road – Carmel Valley Road – Rio Road: April 29
One lane closure will occur on northbound Highway 1 between Rio Road and Carmel Valley Road for utility work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m on Monday.

Highway 68: Acacia Street – Hawthorne Street, Salinas: April 27 – May 2
One lane closure will occur overnight along the eastbound lane of Highway 68 in Salinas between Acacia Street and Hawthorne Street for tree removal work from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Motorists should expect nighttime delays of approximately 30 minutes.

Highway 68 – Salinas River: April 29 – May 3
There will be alternating lane and ramp closures on eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between Spreckles Blvd and Reservation Road for bridge work. The work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday.

Highway 101: East Market Street – Little Bear Creek Bridge, Salinas: April 28 – May 2
Nighttime lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between East Market Street and Little Bear Creek Bridge in Salinas for paving work on the roadway and ramps from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 101: Hudson Road – Harden Farms Road: April 30 – May 2
One lane closure will occur along the northbound lane of Highway 101 between Hudson Road and Harden Farms Road for shoulder work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Highway 101: Camp Roberts Rest Area – San Antonio River Bridge: April 30 – May 3
Daytime lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between the Camp Roberts Rest Area and the San Antonio River Bridge due to bridge inspection work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Highway 183: Clark Street – Market Circle, Salinas: April 29 – May 2
One lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 183 between Clark Street and Market Circle in Salinas for utility work from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

BIG SUR INTERNATIONAL MARATHON BEGINS ALONG HIGHWAY 1 ON SUNDAY, APRIL 28

 MONTEREY COUNTY (CARMEL/BIG SUR) – The Big Sur International Marathon will take place along Highway 1 on Sunday, April 28 beginning at 7:00 a.m. This event will begin in Big Sur and will end at Rio Road in Carmel.

Traffic on Highway 1 will be restricted from 6:00 am until 1:30 pm from Sycamore Canyon Road to Carmel Valley Road. During this highway closure, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will use the northbound lane to lead caravans of traffic in alternating directions at three different intervals during this time.

The CHP will also manage a closure for left turns from Carmel Valley Road onto southbound Hwy. 1 from 3:30 am until 1:30 pm.

Approximately 4,700 people are expected to participate in this marathon with another 3,000 participating in shorter events.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
