Cone Zone Report

 MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, July 7 through Saturday, July 13 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1: Ragged Point, Big Sur: June – August 
One – way traffic controls will be in place on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Ragged Point and San Carpoforo Creek Bridge just outside of the Monterey County line for emergency work to construct a viaduct and retaining wall. Roadwork will take place Monday through Thursday from 6 am until 6 pm and from 6 am until 2 pm on Fridays. Electronic message boards will be in place and a  temporary traffic signal will be activated by August allowing traffic to move in each direction 24/7 until project completion.

Highway 1: Esalen, Big Sur: July 6
The Esalen Midsummer Festival will be on Saturday, July 6. A one-mile section of Highway 1 in the vicinity of the Esalen Institute will be under traffic control during this period from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Specific parking locations will be provided along the dirt shoulder of the highway. Motorists can expect minimal delays.

Highway 1: Bixby Creek Bridge – Hurricane Point: July 8 – July 12
One – way traffic controls will be in place on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between the Bixby Creek Bridge and Hurricane Point for shoulder work along the highway from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highway 1: Hot Springs Creek Bridge – Burns Creek Bridge, Big Sur: July 9
One lane closure will occur on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Hot Spring Creek Bridge and Burns Creek Bridge in Big Sur for a crack seal operation from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Highway 1: Burns Creek Bridge – Anderson Canyon Bridge, Big Sur: July 11
One lane closure will occur on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Burns Creek Bridge and Anderson Canyon Bridge for utility work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Highway 1: Ventana Entrance – Nepenthe North Entrance, Big Sur: July 9
One lane closure will occur on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between the entrance to Ventana  and the north entrance of Nepenthe for a crack seal operation from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Highway 1: Pfeiffer Canyon  Bridge – Ventana Entrance, Big Sur: July 10, July 12
One lane closure will occur on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge and Ventana entrance for survey work from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Highway 1: Rio Road – Carmel Valley Road, Carmel: July 7- July 8
One nighttime lane closure will occur on northbound Highway 1 between Rio Road and Carmel Valley Road in Carmel on Monday and Tuesday for utility work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m
.

Highway 1: Highway 156: July 8 – July 12
One lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 1 at Highway 156 for nighttime bridge work, Monday – Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Highway 1: Pajaro River Bridge, July 8 – July 12
One lane closure will occur along northbound  Highway 1 at the Pajaro River Bridge in the evenings, Monday – Thursday for bridge work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Highway 101: Airport Boulevard – Little Bear Creek Bridge, Salinas: July 8 – July 12
Nighttime lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Airport Boulevard and Little Bear Creek Bridge in Salinas for paving work on the roadway and ramps from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 101: Wild Horse Road – Jolon Road, King City:  July 8 – July 12
One lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Wild Horse Road and Jolon Road for shoulder & grounding operation work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highway 101: Camp Roberts: June 27 – September 27
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts for paving work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a long-term closure of the on and off ramps of northbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts.

Highway 101: South Camp Roberts – East Garrison: Now  – August 30
One long-term lane closure along the shoulders of southbound Highway 101 between South Camp Roberts and East Garrison for roadway excavation work.

Highway 101: San Ardo – San Lucas: Now – December 31
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between the Paris Valley Road overcrossing and the Rancho undercrossing for grinding and paving work.
