TAMC CONE ZONE REPORT

ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR August 4 – August 10 

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, August 4 through Saturday, August 10 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1: Ragged Point, Big Sur: June – August 
One – way traffic controls will be in place on northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Ragged Point and San Carpoforo Creek Bridge just outside of the Monterey County line for emergency work to construct a viaduct and retaining wall. Roadwork will take place Monday through Thursday from 6 am until 6 pm and from 6 am until 2 pm on Fridays. Electronic message boards will be in place and a temporary traffic signal will be activated by August allowing traffic to move in each direction 24/7 until project completion.

Highway 1: Gorda – Lime Creek Bridge, Big Sur: August 5 – August 9
One lane closure and one-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Bixby Creek Bridge and Hurricane Point for mowing and paving work from       7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highway 1: Bixby Creek Bridge – Hurricane Point, Big Sur: August 5 – August 9
One lane closure and one-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Bixby Creek Bridge and Hurricane Point for shoulder work from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Highway 1: Granite Canyon Bridge, Big Sur: August 6
One lane closure and one-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 1 at Granite Canyon Bridge for inspection work on the bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Highway 1: Rio Road  – Carmel Valley Road, Carmel: August 5
One lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 1 between Rio Road and Carmel Valley Road for utility work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Highway 1: Ocean Avenue – Valley Way, Carmel: August 5  – August 10
One lane closure will occur along southbound Highway 1 between Ocean Avenue and Valley Way for nighttime utility work, Monday – Friday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Highway 1: Carmel  – Castroville: August 4 – August 9
Alternating lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Carpenter Street in Carmel and Highway 156 in Castroville for striping work on the road and ramps, Sunday  – Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 1: Lapis Spur, Marina: August 7 – August 9
One lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 1 at Lapis Spur for overnight paving work on Wednesday and Thursday, from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Highway 1: Highway 156 – Santa Cruz County Line: August 4  – August 9
Alternating lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Highway 156 and the Santa Cruz County Line for striping work on the road and ramps, Sunday  – Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 68: Pacific Grove – Monterey: August 4 – August 9
One lane closure and one-way traffic controls will be in place Sunday –  Thursday along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between Piedmont Avenue and Highway 1 for drainage  work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 68: Olmsted Road  –  Highway 218 (Canyon Del Rey Boulevard): Aug. 5 – Aug. 10
One lane closure and one-way traffic controls will be in place in the evenings, Monday –  Friday, along eastbound Highway 68 between Olmsted Road and Highway 218 (Canyon Del Rey Boulevard) for utility work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Highway 68: San Benancio Road – El Toro Golf Club, Salinas: August 5 – August 8
Alternating lane closures will occur along westbound Highway 68 between San Benancio Road and El Toro Golf Club for utility work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Highway 68: Stephanie Drive – Blanco Road, Salinas: August 5
One lane closure will occur along westbound Highway 68 between Stephanie Drive and Blanco Road for utility work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Highway 68: Hawthorne Street – Acacia Street, Salinas: August 10 – August 11
One nighttime lane closure will occur along eastbound Highway 68 between Hawthorne Street and Acacia Street on Saturday for utility work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 101: East Market Street – Boronda Road, Salinas: July 23 – August 22
Full-time ramp closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between East Market Street and Boronda Road for the first phase of ramp reconstruction work at the following locations beginning Tuesday, July 23 through Thursday, August 22:

  • The northbound US 101 off-ramp to North Main Street will be closed Tuesday, July 23 through Monday, August 12.  Motorists may detour by using West Laurel Drive to North Main Street.
  • The southbound US 101 off-ramp to East Market Street will be closed beginning Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 16. Motorists may use John Street to northbound US 101 to the off-ramp at East Market Street.
  • The northbound US 101 on-ramp at North Main Street will be closed beginning Friday, August 2 through Thursday, August 22. Motorists may detour by continuing on North Main Street to West Laurel Drive to northbound US 101

Highway 101: Sanborn Road, Salinas: August 5
The off-ramp from northbound Highway 101 at Sanborn Road will be closed for miscellaneous work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Highway 101: Sherwood Drive – Dunbarton Road (North), Salinas: August 5 – August 8
A moving lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 101 between Sherwood Drive and Dunbarton Road (North) for sweeping operations work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Highway 101: Airport Boulevard – Little Bear Creek Bridge, Salinas:  August 4  – August 9
Nighttime lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Airport Boulevard and Little Bear Creek Bridge in Salinas for paving work on the roadway and ramps from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 101: East Garrison –  North San Miguel: August 5 –  August 9
Alternating lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between East Garrison and North San Miguel for pavement work from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highway 101: Camp Roberts: August 5 – August 8
One lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts for nighttime paving work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m
.

Highway 101: Camp Roberts: Now – September 27
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts for paving work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a long-term closure of the on and off ramps of northbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts.

Highway 101: South Camp Roberts – East Garrison: Now  – August 30
One long-term lane closure along the shoulders of southbound Highway 101 between South Camp Roberts and East Garrison for roadway excavation work.

Highway 101: San Ardo – San Lucas: Now – December 31
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between the Paris Valley Road overcrossing and the Rancho undercrossing for grinding and paving work.

Highway 101: Wild Horse – First Street, King City: Now – January 2020
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Wild Horse Road and First Street for roadway excavation work from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Highway 101: Highway 183 (Main Street) Salinas:  Now – August 25
There will be a long-term closure of one lane and the off ramp on northbound Highway 101 at northbound Highway 183 (North Main Street) in Salinas for paving operations work from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.

There will be a permanent closure of one lane and the on ramp at northbound Highway 101 and  northbound Highway 183 (North Main Street) in Salinas for paving work until 7 p.m. on August 25th.

Highway 183: Salinas Street – Lincoln Avenue, Salinas: August 5  – August 9
Both lanes will be closed on northbound Highway 183 (West Market Street) between Salinas Street and Lincoln Avenue for utility work from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
