Draft State Route (SR) 68 Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan

Caltrans Central Coast and the Transportation Agency for Monterey County invite you to learn more about State Route 68 Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan and current area projects.

This plan supports eligibility for future improvements funded through Senate Bill 1’s Solutions for Congested Corridors Program. It builds on previous efforts to establish a long-range, community-driven vision for the scenic corridor and advances statewide goals outlined in the California Transportation Plan 20250 and the Climate Action Plan for Transportation Infrastructure.

The State Route (SR) 68 Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan (CMCP) presents a holistic approach for managing congestion, enhancing safety, reducing congestion and delay, strengthening climate resilience, and expanding multimodal access between Salinas and Monterey. Key strategies include developing alternative fuel infrastructure, expanding freeway service patrols, implementing innovative transportation technology and management systems, managing vegetation and using fire-resistant materials, creating wildlife crossings, and increasing speed deterrence and enforcement.
