Safety Improvements on Highway 156 are moving forward toward construction. TAMC is working with Caltrans on the first phase of the Highway 156 Monterey Expressweay construction of an interchange at Highway 156 and Castroville Boulevard. This interchange will help reduce collisions and traffic jams by removing the only stop light on the heavily-traveled Route 156. If state matching funds are secured, construction can begin in 2023.
