“K-12 STUDENTS CAN WIN PRIZES IN THE MOVE IT MONTEREY COUNTY ART COMPETITION”

MONTEREY COUNTY – The Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC)  is holding the ”Move It Monterey County Art Competition” for  Monterey County students in grades K-12 with a chance to win individual and classroom prizes.

The art competition is part of the Transportation Agency’s Safe Routes to School Program. Its aim is to educate and engage with students, teachers, and community members on how to get to and from school safely and encourages healthy transportation such as walking, bicycling, scootering, and skateboarding.

Students will be asked to draw their favorite way to get around.  The winning artwork will be featured on safe routes to school program materials, social media, and  the Safe Routes to Schools website: https://saferoutesmonterey.org/.

Prizes

Three elementary school winners, three middle school winners, and three high school winners will be awarded prizes. Prizes include bikes, skateboards, scooter, helmets, AND art supplies for each winner’s classroom. All artists will be given credit, but full names will not be used to protect privacy.

How to Participate

Teachers and administrators can download the English language art competition form and the  Spanish language form at https://saferoutesmonterey.org/2022/09/21/transportation-art-competition-for-k-12-students/.  Entries for the art competition are due on Friday, October 21, 2022. Submissions can be sent to alissa@tamcmonterey.org. Winners of the art competition will be announced in November 2022.
