Potential Project Delay on the FORTAG Canyon Del Rey Segment

DATE: Thursday, July 10, 2025
MONTEREY COUNTY – The Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) announced today that the completion date for the construction of the Canyon Del Rey Segment of the FORTAG project may be delayed due to utility related conflicts.
The project is in close proximity to an existing PG&E electrical transmission pole. Work cannot proceed until Pacific Gas and Electric Company provides direction on how to protect the existing pole in place while the project continues construction. The project is striving to meet an October 15th deadline from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for work in the Frog Pond Wetlands Preserve.
This conflict could potentially extend the project’s completion date from the Fall of 2026 to the Spring or Summer of 2027. We do not anticipate that this potential delay would impact the reopening of Carlton Drive at SR 218. The TAMC project team is actively working to resolve this conflict and keep the project on schedule. How to Stay Informed
