PUBLIC MEETINGS SCHEDULED FOR US 101 SOUTH OF SALINAS CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENT AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT PROJECTS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Caltrans and the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) invite the community to attend public meetings to learn more about the US 101 South of Salinas Corridor Improvement Project and South of Salinas Access Management Project. These meetings will provide information on near-term safety improvements and long-term upgrades for the corridor. Community members will have the opportunity to view design concepts and ask questions directly to the Caltrans and TAMC project team.

 Meeting Purpose is to Share Information Regarding Two Upcoming Projects:

 ·         South of Salinas Access Management Project: This near-term safety project which is targeted to begin construction in 2027, will close the 11 medians between Airport Road and Chualar precluding all left- and U-turns. ·         US 101 South of Salinas Corridor Improvement Project: This longer-term project which targeted to begin phased construction in 2031, will relocate/reconstruct the Abbott Street and Chualar interchanges and construct connecting local frontage roads on the east and west of US 101.  More information is available here: https://www.tamcmonterey.org/highway-101-south-of-salinas

 Project Benefits:

Together these projects will enhance safety and mobility along Highway 101 south of Salinas by reducing collisions through median closures, easing congestion with upgraded interchanges accesses for residents, businesses, and the agricultural community. Together, the improvements will support long-term economic growth and improve travel reliability in the Salinas Valley.
